Remnant felt and reclaimed wood chair benefit Superstorm Sandy charity
Following the devastation of Superstorm Sandy, many designers sought for ways to help. Jennifer Krichels, writer, editor, and consultant for architecture and design publications, and Jean Lin, Editor-In-Chief of Designer Pages, co-founded Reclaim NYC to make a difference. Reclaim NYC brought together designers to craft one-of-a-kind furniture by repurposing debris from the storm and auctioned off the pieces to benefit the Brooklyn Recovery Fund.
FilzFelt joined forces with NYC-based furniture designer, Daniel Moyer, and our old friend, David Hamlin of submaterial, to donate a furniture piece to the Reclaim NYC exhibition and auction. Since FilzFelt aims to find a use for all our remnant and scrap materials, we donated these materials for use in the design of a chair. The result is a gorgeous reclaimed wood chair with laminated felt seat and back pads in a mix of natural colorways. The event took place during New York Design Week and International Furniture Fair (ICFF) in 2013 and we were proud to take part.
