One-of-a-kind felt garments in Times Square
FilzFelt was thrilled to be a part of the 2010 Fashion Center Business Improvement District’s exhibition entitled Sidewalk Catwalk. The summer-long installation along Broadway in New York City’s Fashion District, between Times Square and Herald Square, included Ralph Pucci-designed mannequins wearing one-of-a-kind garments crafted from special weather-resistant materials supplied by Material ConneXion and local bead and trim stores.
FilzFelt has been part of the Material ConneXion library, a material consultancy of innovative materials, since 2009 and was one of the innovation materials the designers were able to choose from. Designers Rachel Roy and Rebecca Moses selected designed and fabricated custom garments made from 100% Wool Design Felt. Rachel Roy created a vest made from 3mm Design Felt in natural, undyed 150 Weiß with exposed seams and stand collar. Rebecca Moses’ mannequin featured a felt skirt in 200 Natur with hand stitch detailing.
Both garments endured the elements of New York City streets for three months during the summer of 2010 and proves, even with intense summer rainstorms and a record-setting heat wave, the durability and natural resilience of 100% Wool Design Felt.
