Plus Block in Interior Design

The daughter of a math teacher, Kelly Harris Smith has always had an affinity for the plus and minus signs and used them throughout her product designs. Early on for her own product design company, Etcetera Media, she integrated these mathematical symbols into wall hooks and lined felt accessories with textiles embellished with these iconic symbols. For FilzFelt, she takes the positively graphic plus and combines it with over ninety felt colors and an acoustic substrate to create modular tiles that amp up the patterning while providing some sound-soaking oomph.
