Harvard Science Center

Science Meets Sound Softening

At the Harvard Science Center in Boston, Leers Weinzapfel Associates has transformed shared spaces and common areas into an inviting, relaxed, and engaging atmosphere that also fosters a social and collaborative experience for students.

The furnishings and graphic walls in custom CNC-cut wool felt feature new palettes of bright colors, bringing visual interest and a lively atmosphere to common areas. The large, eclipse and physics-inspired graphics draw students in, anchor collaborative lounge areas, and enhance acoustic performance where groups naturally gather. Throughout a predominantly concrete building, the design team turned to wool felt to offer a sense of softness, warmth, and comfort.
