For the relocated offices of Yelp, the online restaurant and business review collective for local consumers, Studio O+A aimed to create the culture of a neighborhood where workers could literally bump into one another despite its super-sized 106,000 square foot space. The building, originally built in 1925 for Pacific Telephone & Telegraph, features exposed brick and concrete, reused historic doors from the building’s past as well as reclaimed wood. To complement the eclectic, vintage materials, 5mm Wool Design Felt in 200 Natur is draped and mingles with custom rope light fixtures at the 8th floor coffee bar. The 100% undyed, natural felt provides softness and texture while allowing the colorful patterned textiles beyond to pop. Plus, the acoustic properties of 5mm felt also help abate sound in the otherwise hard-surfaced space.
